PRESIDENT’S WELCOME

The year 2020 was a year of transition as we moved from in-person to
ZOOM meetings, a new technology for many of us. We are now prepared
to make that transition back to in-person meetings and reacquaint
ourselves with our fellow AAUW members while navigating the issues
around the reality of the pandemic. As with all changes, we are up to the
challenge.

Established in 1881 when a small group of female college graduates
collaborated to open the doors for women’s career advancement and
encourage women to pursue higher education, AAUW now boasts over
1,000 branches throughout the country while supporting international
coalitions.

The East Mesa AAUW is a local branch of individuals who share a vision of
and dedication to continuing the mission of those women. We are part of a
network that welcomes members from all professions and businesses who
advocate for education, social reform, economic parity, and political
awareness for women and girls.

We invite you to join us at a meeting or event which is an excellent
opportunity to meet current members, understand our mission and branch
scholarship support and explore the special interest groups and activities of
the East Mesa Branch.

I hope to meet you at one of our upcoming general meetings as you
consider making AAUW a part of your life.
