Welcome! On behalf of the members of the East Mesa Branch of AAUW, thank you for seeking out our organization. AAUW – American Association of University Women – has been dedicated to empowering women since 1881.
AAUW is committed to eliminating bias from education, advocating for equitable pay and economic parity, and advancing leadership for women. The East Mesa AAUW is a local branch of dynamic women who share a vision to inspire contemporary women.
One way we achieve this vision is our scholarship program. This year, we are proud to support twelve scholars. We award them scholarships, and provide a network of mentors within their respective fields. We are pleased that many of our former scholars are now acting as mentors for current scholars.
For our members we encourage and endorse special interest groups like Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, book clubs, discussion programs on world affairs, and groups who enjoy meals together. These initiatives foster camaraderie between other like-minded women and the ability to share common goals. We have many events planned in which I hope you will participate.
We extend a warm welcome you to join us at our general meetings where you can listen to special guest speakers. We meet the first Wednesday of each month (November – April) from 1:00 p.m.- 3:00p.m. in the Club Room at Leisure World. I hope to meet you at one of our upcoming general meetings or events as you consider making AAUW a part of your life. Let me know if you have any questions about our organization.
